Review of Evernote for Windows

You can download Evernote by going to http://Evernote.com

The version I’m using (and shown in video) is Evernote for Windows.

As shown in the above video, I use Evernote several times a day, every day. It really keeps me organized and a little more focused because I can dump all my thoughts and ideas into notes and not worry about forgetting or losing them.

Another really nice feature that I forgot to mention is that each note can be popped out into it’s own window with easy editing buttons..

Evernote note pops out into it's own winodow

Wow Christie, that’s awesome!! Thanks so much for sharing.. I have to admit, I’ve downloaded Evernote before, but never really got into using it.. me thinks that’s about to change!!

    Hi, Dianne
Glad you found it helpful! I must have gone through a dozen other options until I found Evernote. It was the first one I could really stick to and have been using it for about 2 years now.

I wanted to add one more tip that I finally figured out. If you want to be able to easily rearrange your to do list items, use the one with dates. Then you just change the number in the # column to rearrange.

Hi Christy, I actually found this video about evernote on youtube. The version I have just installed is nothing like the one you show here. I am not sure how to use this program but have a heard a lot of good things online about it. Do you happen to know where I can get updated tutorial about this program that is similar to your tutorial? The ones on the program itself has me really lost. Thank you for any help you can give. Theresa

Hi, Theresa. Thanks for writing. I just checked and was notified that I am using the most recent version of Evernote. So I’d be curious to know what you are using in order to maybe provide more help. Are you using the online version? If desktop version, could you look under Help>About Evernote in the top left menu and tell me what it says? Mine says Evernote (Advanced Features Disabled) Version 2.2.1.386.

      Hi ChristyK,

I’ve downloaded both the Mac v.1.11.0 and PC v3.5.6.2848. Considering my PC version is newer than the version you were using in the video, I should get all the same features. My version of evernote also looks extremely different from the version you have. I’m jealous! Note that I also got the paid subscription hoping that would fix the problem but it didn’t.

Hi, Rose. I just recently wiped my computer and had to reinstall everything. So I did finally upgrade my version of Evernote. I didn’t completely like the design of v3.5.6.2848 and my existing notes all showed up in a huge font, so I instead went with 3.1 (well, still have both on computer, but I use 3.1)

And, yes, definitely some missing features :( No more templates for checklists, contacts, shopping, etc and no more linking between notes are some that I really miss. In 3.1 you can at least hit ctrl+enter after entering a line with a checkbox and it automatically creates a new line with a checkbox – not with 3.5 I’m still slightly tempted to pay for the upgrade in order to sync with my Ipod Touch, but without some of my fav features, I haven’t done so yet.
